Acquired by a local dealer with a love of architectural antiques, a salvaged 19th century Indian sandstone window niche from Jaisalmar, Rajasthan. A common domestic feature in this region, the double niches would hold candles, typically for illuminating doorways.

Weighing over 5kg, double arches are hewn from yellow sandstone with decorative surface carvings and traces of soot as testament to its practical purpose.
