Antique Repoussé Brass Bevelled Mirror 02
A richly decorated pressed brass 19th century mirror, French in origin. With canted mirror edges surrounding a central bevelled mirror plate, and a mirror backed crest to the top. The typically Rococo decoration features scrolling foliate and shell detail.
All elements are original, with a wood backing and the crest attached to the main with a wooden brace. It is a solid piece, with lovely foxing to the mirror but signs of age are as follows: a detached piece of the crest mirror, a stabilised crack to the bottom mirror surround with signs of a repair where the original pins holding the brass have been lost, and wear to the brass at the apex of the crest.
But this is a piece that wears its age well and in our opinion much more interesting than pristine examples.
Measures approx. 59cm by 32cm with a 4cm projection. Two original hanging hooks to the reverse
