Made with variations in form over the centuries but this is our favourite iteration, likely a late 19th, early 20th century example forged entirely in iron with four curled feet. A rich patina to the surface and light decoration on each foot, almost certainly French in origin.
The ‘cellar rat’ candlestick has a distinctive hanging hook for illuminating wine cellars. The spiral body contains a practical corkscrew mechanism to lift the candle as it burns.
