Swedish Grace Round Silver Pewter Griffin Mirror
Sourced from France but Swedish in origin c.1930, without any markings but in the manner of Svenskt Tenn. Two seated griffons sit attendant at either side of the pewter frame, and the mirror surface has the most wonderful level of age - crazed, striated and foxed but still perfectly practical as reflections are not obscured. It wears its age well.
The frame itself is also richly patinated but the dark silver finish is not dulled, with very slight distortions at the sides and pins which keep it to the wood-chip backing being largely imperceptible when hung. Hung by rope to the reverse, the backing and rope likely later replacements but certainly decades old interventions.
Measures approx. 54cm wide overall with the mirror 44cm in diameter
