19th Century Forged Iron Hanging Lyre Gag
Hand forged with a wonderful surface texture and patina, an antique English lyre gag, repurposed as a hanging curio. Almost totemic in shape and definitely retired, an original wooden cover to the spike has been lost, but would have served as a handle to administer medicine orally to livestock. Humble origins but now serving as an interesting ornamental object.
Approx. dimensions: H 45cm x W 19cm x D 1cm
England, c.1880
