Empire Style Bronzed Candelabra Chandelier

£280.00

Presented for sale unwired but with three lamp holders sitting in the plafonnier basin ready for electrification - a late 19th or early 20th century bronzed brass chandelier. Six scrolled candleholders circle the basin, along with with floral and foliate appliques and a cone finial sits centrally, all very typical of the French Empire style of the early 19th century. Sourced from Sweden, a truer attribution could be the parallel Karl Johan period style.

The aged brass has great depth and patina, the basin having a higher level of shine and show signs of an abrasive polish which it wears well. Traces of coloured candle wax remain on the candleholders but fortunately they are largely imperceptible when hung. Chain hung with a simple rose, the styling of which belies its later turn of the century origin. A refined example of the style.

Measures approx. 50cm in diameter overall, with the plafonnier measuring 29cm, overall drop 66cm including original hook, 62 cm from top of the rose
