Art Deco Wood Carved Tassel Mirror
In the manner of Süe et Mare, an Art Deco wood carved shield mirror with original tassel hanger. Likely French c.1925 and skilfully carved, stylised roses ring the frame and the removable bevelled mirror sits within. The aged wood, likely oak, is complemented by the colouration of the ochre braided rope The mirror is a later replacement although with its own age, an original sticker on the copper-backed reverse indicates a replacement date of 1965.
The mirror plate is clear, the wood bearing some patina commensurate with age. A little wear to the outside edge of the mirror but the notable wear sits within the frame and is concealed. Some loss to the fabric tassels as is to be expected.
Approx. dimensions: H 66cm x W 49.5cm x D 4cm / Overall length with tassel 72cm
(Likely origin) France, c.1925
