English Lucite Ribbon Vanity Mirror c.1930
We occasionally come across Atsonea pieces in local antiques markets but none to match the tone of this particular mirror. Distinctly Art Deco in style, with lucite ribbons half-framing the good sized bevelled mirror. Its scale making it useful as well as glamourous.
Identified as pre-1942 Attewell & Co. (Atsonea) by the branded logo to the reverse, the company made decorative mirrors known for their clarity before they joined the war effort making Spitfire parts for the war effort. Quite the pivot, but echoed in the marriage of the practical and beautiful in this piece.
England, c.1930
Approx. dimensions: H 43cm x W 33cm x 22cm extended
